NEW: Yesterday, the Justice Department sent armed marshals to warn former U.S. pardon attorney Liz Oyer not to disclose internal DOJ information during her Senate testimony.

Today, Oyer is speaking out to condemn the DOJ’s actions and defend the rule of law.

For the better part of the last decade, a great many people have tried really hard to make Donald Trump make sense in some broader political and historical context. But at the end of the day he's exactly what he appears to be: a rich psycho who's failed at everything in life except self-promotion.

If I am the opposition, this is a large part of the messaging, plus:

1) Punish those who violated multiple laws and bring it up all the damn time
2) Emphasize that Trump seems out of the loop
3) Highlight this admin's disdain for our allies in the EU and Canada and how that hurts us all
It's not uncommon for principals to put things together for a president's final sign off. Presidents are busy. But you can't read these texts and not get the strong sense the actl commander in chief isn't really part of the convo, not literally or figuratively. Out to lunch. Weekend at Bernies vibe.

WOW: @miamiherald.com reveals that a person imprisoned in El Salvador had LEGAL REFUGEE STATUS.

He entered the USA legally in January and was detained because of his tattoos, EVEN THOUGH he had previously passed a full background check.

Without warning, he was sent to El Salvador on March 15.

I am mixed on this topic -
Shutting it down is leverage, BUT gives executive control over furloughs and new deals could effectively make the furloughs permanent.

Passing it gives power up but allows for slower bleed until September deadline.

Shutting it down sticks it to Trump Admin.

Rough.
Senator Chuck Schumer, the Democratic leader, said he would vote for a Republican-written bill to keep federal funding flowing past a midnight Friday deadline, making a forceful case for why Democrats could not allow a shutdown that many of them have demanded. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/13/u...

I don't take a back seat to anyone on the subject of anti-semitism. Jews are being used here as a fig leaf to advance a broader attack on universities and higher learning. Trump wants to bring Universities to heel and obedience. Jews are just a convenient cudgel here and just as disposable.
The Ed. Department's Office for Civil Rights sent letters to 60 additional institutions "warning them of potential enforcement actions" for "violations relating to antisemitic harassment and discrimination" including Harvard, Brown, Stanford, Princeton, UNC, and several UC's

Trump backed GOP into a big corner with his “balanced budget” point.

The ONLY way House GOP could even think about upholding their “no cuts to Medicaid” swing seat promises and their spending cut mandates is deficit spending and bad math.

Now they have to gut Medicaid & hand it to Elon in public.

Hey @iusc.bsky.social - with recent recommendations by the National Republican Congressional Committee telling members to not have townhalls anymore, in addition to this event, should we ask local news organizations to ask why our representatives aren't willing to hear from their constituents?
Our reps—Senators Graham & Scott and Rep. Timmons—were invited to answer to their constituents. Will they show up? If not, their empty chairs will.

Last I checked the judge and jury in the house are doing nothing, so who is supposed to be?
COATES: Gaetz was under investigation for allegedly having sexual relations with a minor and using illicit drugs. Do you have concerns about these allegations?

NANCY MACE: Well, I have concerns with the media being judge, jury, and executioner.
