Leading expert on constitutional law, Professor @adamshinar.bsky.social just told Haaretz he thinks Supreme Court would not intervene. Others disagreed. We'll see!
This scenario is already in play. The Attorney General informed Netanyahu Ben Gvir's appointment as minister for national security would be illegal, as there is a pending investigation into his conduct in the ministry.
I think there's high likelihood the Supreme Court backs her up.
Good chance that Ben Gvir's return to government would be blocked by Israel's supreme court, and that may be the moment where everything breaks apart: a constitutional crisis, actual civil war, government collapse. All options are open.

Our article about the role of legal scholars in counter-populism is now available at ICON. It might have some takeaways for the US now.

Bottom line: legal scholars are uniquely positioned to expose untruths about law/institutions, which often form the core of the populist argument.
