I loved this show as a kid, and back in the day, nearly every show was set in New York City. I assumed I would grow up, move to NYC, and become a sports writer. None of those things happened, including growing up.

Yeah, this thread has me super confident about 2028, possibly the last year for the human species. Fun while it lasted!

I get it. You want the ideal candidate. Me too. And that would probably be the SAME candidate for both of us. But if history’s any guide, “striving to do better” tends to end with “how did we lose again?” Democracy doesn’t survive by repeating our mistakes.

If Newsom wins the primaries, would you vote for him or 3rd Term Trump?

How about a hypothetical that's not so stupid or insulting? If a Democrat ever ran on Jim Crow laws, I’d vote for whoever could stop them. Same logic applies now. But that’s not the ballot we’ve got.

Never said I was voting for Newsom in the primaries. Has he announced he's running? Who are you voting for? You seem like you know.
October 31, 2025 at 1:41 AM
Oh, and by the way, the primaries! Yes, vote as needed! I will vote for the most progressive candidate on the ticket. But after the primaries, I'm all in for whoever the Democratic nominee is. I'm not staying home on one issue.

First of all, the president can't legislate. If Newsom were to win, the Democrats would NEVER let him govern like a king. We need Congress to protect trans rights. 6 million fewer dems voted in 2024 than in 2020. With enough lines in the sand, maybe you can get 10 million to stay home in 2028. smh

How good life be . . . not yours, not mine, but humankind's . . . with 3rd Term Trump? That's my line in the sand. Yours?
October 31, 2025 at 1:10 AM
Exactly! Yes, let's just gift-wrap everything for 3rd-Term Trump. These talking eggheads keep forecasting the most awful Trump/MAGA outcomes, and those most awful outcomes keep coming true! But their plan: cling to their single-issue, non-starter lines in the sand. Dear god, we're effing cooked.

Ohhhh! I get it. I have to outlive everyone. And still be working. Gotcha.

J. Evans Pritchard scored Flatland high on both the vertical and horizontal, thereby revealing the story to be truly great.
