Great to see, but progress has been slower than a 220 on Western Road. #Cork
The government has approved BusConnects Cork, a multibillion-euro plan to overhaul the city’s transport network with faster, greener buses and 95km of new cycle lanes.

The project will add over 50% more bus services, including two new 24-hour routes

Finished reading The Lie of the Land by @thinkorswim.bsky.social this morning.

I'd highly recommend this to anyone trying to wrap their head around the climate crisis, and what Ireland can do to mitigate and adapt to it.

The book does a brilliant job at making the overwhelming understandable.

The fact that you can't even use contactless or an app (without a physical Leap Card) to pay for the bus shows how neglected Ireland's public transport is.

Only one issue in a long list of ways Ireland decides to keep doing transport worse than most of Europe.
We deserve a world-class fully integrated public and active transport app for Dublin!

Other European cities have had them for years: plan, pay, ride, all in one place.

My piece in @thejournal.ie this morning.

Opinion: The people of Dublin deserve a proper public transport app
It’s frustrating to have to switch between different apps for one journey instead of it all being in one place, writes Dr Ola Løkken Nordrum.

Bus Éireann would be a fantastic contestant on the Traitors - being able to lie about everything without ever being held accountable for it. Waiting 40+ minutes for a service that’s supposed to be every 15, when there’s no traffic at all to delay it, is simply unacceptable. Cork deserves better.

I love how a 24 hour train ticket to Malmö (same price as return from Lund) includes all buses and trains in both cities.

Makes it so easy to go on a long walk along the beach, take the bus to Ikea for meatballs, and then back to the city centre before my train home to Lund. #Sweden

Typical Bus Eireann having delays. One thing I certainly don't miss from Cork!

Lund 🇸🇪

One of my favourite things about Lund 🇸🇪 is how pleasant it is to walk through the suburbs.

The city has a wide network of cycle/footpaths surrounded by trees and green spaces. There's underpasses under many busy roads, making journeys even safer.

Ireland has a lot to learn. #Lund #Cork

The Straight Road cycle lane is awful and leaves people stranded while trying to cross a busy road.

Meanwhile, the same road (N22) has light segregation, an inner kerb, and a toucan x'ing a few km away.

Please sign this petition to call for safer cycling to Bcollig.

Jakriborg, Hjärup. Located on the train line between the Swedish cities of Lund and Malmö, it looks like a historic medieval village. In reality construction began in the 1990s!

A fascinating experiment in urban planning. Do all new neighbourhoods always need to look "new"?
