“A vote for the Carney Liberals is a vote for Western secession,” writes Preston Manning, ludicrously.

The question for Pierre Poilievre: Would he oppose the secession of any province, regardless of who becomes Prime Minister? If he cannot clearly answer “yes”, he has no business seeking that job.

Ontario’s Superior Court has ruled that, if you smear drag performers as “groomers”, you can be sued in defamation.

Proud to have represented the successful plaintiffs in this case, alongside a terrific McCarthy Tétrault LLP team and our friends at Judson Howie LLP.

Canadian litigators: Do you arrive at the courthouse already robed?

I was taught that this is not proper etiquette, but the custom of robing at the courthouse seems increasingly to be honoured in the breach.

FWIW, I’m still a don’t-put-on-your-pads-until-you’re-at-the-arena kind of barrister.
