Laurent Mekies on the F1 title battle: chances: "You are getting tired of me telling you that we take it race-by-race. I'm not going to repeat it. But the simple truth is, the focus is how can we maximise our chance to get the car in the alive window for Las Vegas? The rest is a consequence."

Nico Hulkenberg on a 35-lap stint on the softs and P9: "Obviously not an ideal first lap, losing a couple of positions, which never helps your case. But we came back from that with an effective one-stop, quite a long stint on the soft. And it was a used soft. So it was nice to pull that off."

Lewis Hamilton frustrated by P13 and a tyre temperature issue in Interlagos qualifying: "Just couldn't get the tyres working. I think the execution in terms of the times we got out and everything was fine, it's just the rears are at a place that I can't get to temperature for the start of the lap."

Andrea Stella on Oscar Piastri's FP1 form in Brazil: "He's confident, his comments in the car, his comments in the debrief, go back to the comments where he feels the car, he is in tune with the car, and he feels that what he's doing generates lap time in a very natural way."

Max Verstappen on Brazil: "It's clear that we are not good everywhere yet, or at least let's say the best or whatever. So I hope that this weekend will be a bit different. It's a completely different track layout and behaviour. So we'll see what we get."

Lewis Hamilton on Felipe Massa's legal action: "I don't have a view on it. I'm not in touch with it at all, not reading about it. Nothing really to do with me. And whatever reasons that Felipe has, I'm sure he's got the conviction within him, and that's what he needs to do."

Oscar Piastri on McLaren: "It's a difficult dynamic to manage when you've got the two cars in the same team fighting for a championship that only one car can win, there's naturally going to be difficulties with that. I respect the team allowing us to both try and fight for the championship."

Apparently it's International Stout Day today! I'll have to look for something in Sao Paulo tonight but meanwhile here are a couple I sampled at the last race in Mexico City...:

Liam Lawson on the Mexican marshal incident: "We're in a sport with a huge amount of variables, and these things, as much as they can't happen again and they shouldn't happen, there's always a possibility of something like this. And what's most important is that action is taken now to prevent it."

15 years since Nico Hulkenberg took pole in Brazil: "It feels kind of long and not at the same time. I know obviously a lot of things have happened in the meantime, but it all happened pretty quick as well, if you reflect on it. Still happy to be around, it still says that I did some things right!"

Andrea Stella on McLaren F1 team form post Mexico: "I think both Lando and Oscar go into the final four races with reasons to be confident, and I think the team also go into the final four races with more understanding of how to extract performance from the car consistently."

Esteban Ocon on P9 in Mexico: "We got unlucky with quite a lot of things. Overall, the car was working super well. I'm happy with our performance this weekend and our learning. Obviously it didn't smile to us, the luck, every session. But I think we can be pleased with what we did."
October 29, 2025 at 12:10 PM
Fred Vasseur on P2 for Ferrari in Mexico: "We probably made a step the last couple of weekends to put everything together, to not have the feeling that we left too much on the table, as we did in Baku or Singapore, where the potential was not that bad, but we almost struggled to score points."

Official confirmation from Aston Martin that Jak Crawford will have the third driver and reserve role next season. Andy Cowell says: "Jak has impressed in the simulator, having completed regular sessions at the AMR Technology Campus to support our race operations and car development."

Kimi Antonelli on Mercedes team orders: "At least I got the position back. Of course we need to review. It's very easy to talk now, but if we would have held position, we probably would have had a better chance to undercut Ollie, and we would have had a better shot to finish maybe P4 and P5."
October 27, 2025 at 5:53 PM
Alex Albon on P12 in Mexico: "I can confirm the hard tyre was not good during the race, and I think that just fixed the whole strategy. We had chances to be dynamic and convert to a two-stop, but we were just a bit too stuck in our ways, and we just committed to something that wasn't working."
October 27, 2025 at 5:52 PM
Max Verstappen on his title chances: "I lost 10 to Lando, if you look at it like that. I said before the weekend, everything needs to go perfect to win. And this weekend didn't go perfect. So that's your answer. I think it's going to be tough, but let's see what we can do in other tracks."

The first lap in Mexico City is rarely straightforward, with the long tow down to Turn One allowing cars to drag past, creating three-into-two bunching up etc. The three title contenders have more to lose than those around them. Let's see if they all emerge unscathed...:

Ollie Bearman P17 in FP2, P17 in FP3 - and P10 in qualifying: "Yesterday, I was struggling a bit to get on top of the car in just one session. Today, I had a bit of an issue on my soft tyre. So heading into quali, there were a lot of question marks. I'm happy to be in Q3, all things considered."
October 26, 2025 at 5:16 PM
Liam Lawson on P15: "We basically tried to keep improving the car, and I think we just went a little bit too far. It's frustrating, because we had a very fast car. We just chased a little bit too hard. I think the car has been in a really good place. Obviously it's very small margins."
October 26, 2025 at 3:56 PM
Yuki Tsunoda on P11: "As a team, we struggled a little bit for pace. I think me and Max struggled with the same thing, I think he was struggling with the grip, also the same for me as well, especially just mechanical grip. With this kind of situation, it's very sensitive to warm up as well."
October 26, 2025 at 3:34 PM
Lance Stroll on P19 in Mexico: "Generally, the car goes backwards throughout the weekend, so I'm not surprised. I had no grip - no grip. So it's kind of what happens a lot. There's good grip in the practice, and then you come into qualifying and there's just no grip. I don't have all the answers."
October 26, 2025 at 2:39 PM
Fernando Alonso on P14: "We were slow the whole weekend. We know we knew Mexico and Vegas on paper are the worst tracks for us, and unfortunately, we confirmed it. Normally we are P3/P5 [on Friday], so when I was only only P8 yesterday, I knew that it could be a tough weekend."
October 26, 2025 at 2:32 PM
Nico Hulkenberg on P13 in qualifying: "I was struggling to get more out of it, but laps were clean, quali was clean. I think we thought we were better. I thought we had a crack at Q3 throughout all the practice sessions, but it just seemed to slip out of our hands now in quali."
October 26, 2025 at 1:24 PM
Pierre Gasly on P18 in Mexico qualifying: "Overall, pretty happy to be only bit more than a tenth away from Q2. But I must say, it's very, very difficult. At the minute, in the car, with the balance we have and the grip we have, to just put every corner together is nearly impossible."
