Damn it, they stole 10 of mine and I didn’t want to share with the publishers.

Chicago forever 🖤
(I’m amazed at how well that song captures Chicago today. Of course Einstein disguised as Robin Hood, Romeo, and the other eccentrics in the song are the sort of people you might meet in Rogers Park at any time!)

They all play on the penny whistles
You can hear them blow
If you lean your head out far enough on Desolation Row
You can hear them blow
If you lean your head out far enough on Desolation Row

At midnight all the agents
And the superhuman crew
Come out and round up everyone
That knows more than they do
And they bring them to the factory
Where the heart attack machine
Is strapped across their shoulders
And then the kerosene….
And the superhuman crew
Come out and round up everyone
That knows more than they do
And they bring them to the factory
Where the heart attack machine
Is strapped across their shoulders
And then the kerosene….

And the riot squad they’re restless
They need somewhere to go
As lady and I look out tonight
On Desolation Row
They need somewhere to go
As lady and I look out tonight
On Desolation Row

(The man’s name was Buff Higgins; the story of him being tortured and tricked comes from Judge Goggins. It doesn’t totally line up with accounts of his arrest, but it’s one of a million stories of the dirty tricks cops pulled all the time to get convictions).
