Today's events might well have set us back a couple of months, but better that this happened before we were metres beyond it and desperately trying to dig out someone beyond the collapse. Are we crazy? Maybe. But also sensibly scared.

Well we'd like to know where this tunnel goes. We enjoy each other's company and trust our collective judgement and experience. Yes. If you get it wrong you get squashed and die, so scary is helpful in guiding choices. Careful but confident is the way to do it. Much as it was for the old miners.

Not read that one, but Tim's book is a lovely exploration of hireath in relation to Cornwall, and particularly West Cornwall. I more or less read it in one sitting, then read it again more slowly, then again.

Lucy Connolly is a nasty piece of work and was quite rightly jailed for what she said. She has been released on licence in accordance with the law, but if she opens her gob on this matter again she goes straight back to clink. Watch this space.
