That flow should be beneficial in both directions. Quebec gets lower overall cost as well as NE

Is Quebec expected to import at times of low prices to offset water flow through dams? From what I've seen they have more or less hit their overall production limits on an annual basis.

And they're not so offensively timed as they are in the summer. Much more civilized time to be watching the sunrise.

I believe Ontario has increased the ties from the south of the province into the Northwest that would make stronger ties to Manitoba possible. Overall increased grid connections between provinces should be good for stability and renewables connections.

Nicely written and well explained. It's good to have someone that knows the beat well digging into the specifics on this.

Doesn't even need to be inside. Near open windows or hvac inlets can do the job as well.

Today's announcement doesn't appear to touch stringency, only the headline price. I wonder if that will change in final agreements.

Just watch out for falling paint cans

Was the headline price (or at least close to it) applicable most of the time in the past?

Fort McMurray, Alberta. It really kind of looked like the sky was ripping apart overhead. Didn't see much if any pink

That does get interesting. Kind of like the mines with electric heavy haulers going from higher elevation down a mountain and never needing to charge. (Though I guess that only works in one direction)

Living in Alberta that's only kind of connected to the grid I've dreamed up a few such options to take advantage of price differences with our neighbours. Build stations across the border from each other on separate grids. Tie with one or more of: batteries on rails, pumped hydro (circular pipe),..

I was thinking about something similar as a thought experiment. Alberta is lacking in ties to the rest of WECC so there should be pretty good price differentials across the AB-BC border. And this is definitely more energy dense for storage than the train full of rocks up a hill idea.

Just looked at some spoilers. I completely missed the significance of the reveal, guess I wasn’t paying close enough attention in the earlier episode.

I suppose….but my stack of unread books is tall and they do such a great job of putting to story together. I also don’t have to judge the adaptation.

The bit of negotiation/blackmail was particularly nice.

Always disappointing when the season ends and I’m stuck waiting months for the next go.

Is there a word for this? Something defenestration but for losing one’s titles. Unprincing? Deregalization?

The result? A fragmented public consciousness where competing realities coexist, each self-reinforcing and resistant to correction. When truth is no longer a shared foundation, power shifts to those who control the most compelling narrative - no matter how detached from reality it is.

Also private sector if the gov deems it important enough.

Is that a factor of electric grid change meaning lots of credits created for wind/solar and even nat gas vs a slower change in the per kWh rate?
October 24, 2025 at 8:44 PM
Definitely good direction and good to see interest in increasing ties for our relatively wealthy tied grid. Is there any open info on what the AESO has done to return to full capacity? There were hints at frequency response being a concern in the letter last year.

One tried and true method to make friends is to have $100k/day of people twiddling their thumbs cuz you wanted to save a few thousand on one of those little sub projects.
