What's the statute of limitations on the Hatch Act?

Part of the reason they are doing this, though, is (1) they don't think the Democrats have the guts to fight back, and (2) they know that if the Democrats do fight back, they can always spit out billions of dollars of propaganda to convince gullible idiots that they are "good" and Dems are "evil."

Cringe even by "Epstein inbox" standards.

We're at the point where the GOPers are starting to blame each other for "who lost the midterms."

A year before the midterms.

He's a doctor! How does he not understand this?!

My recollection is that they tried to get rid of this, but I am no expert. I don't even practice law actively these days, and am licensed (vol inactive) in Texas, not New York State.

I think New York State, at one point, had a statute or a common law rule that they were going to go consider a federal prosecution double jeopardy in their state courts. Even if federal common law would say otherwise (that states are separate sovereigns).

States can effectively opt-out of sepsov.

"Separate sovereigns" is also why federal prosecutions do not bar state prosecutions (unless a state statute says so) and vice-versa, with regard to the double jeopardy clause of the 5th Amendment.

I think the potential for double jeopardy, in particular, is what bugged 25-year-old me.

I think we were getting to a point where there was going to be an impasse unless and until one side either blinked or opened Pandora's box of chaos by going nuclear -- for the GOP, killing the filibuster; for the Dems, that would have meant something like a general strike. The Senate Dems blinked.

See also: all those religious alternatives to real insurance that popped up in the 2010s.

The plan is to destroy BlueCrossBlueShield and replace it with GoFundMe and bartering.

Healthcare providers are going to be thrilled.

I don't think he's talking about buying a plan. I think his idea is self-insurance.

Remember the GOP lawmaker who babbled on a few years back about paying doctors with chickens?

There's been an undercurrent on the right that has been deeply hostile to the very concept of health insurance.

It looks like something you would see at the local strip mall beauty salon.

Did the Beeb replace Laura Kuenssberg with Philomena Cunk?

The only reason I am still on Facebook is because of the people. Network effects is basically the real value drive. If anyone ever builds an app that successfully pulls grandmas away, Meta will die instantly.

I haven't even listed all of my grievances (including how awful their dating feature is).

Something about this is screaming "person in a costume" to me.
