If your #Autistic child, friend, partner, family member, etc seems "dramatic" due to their routine being disrupted, they're not. It is truly world breaking for them when it happens. It feels awful, & it isn't their fault. Have patience, and take it a step at a time.

132: Routine Photo Description: Panel 1: Nighttime in an overgrown pumpkin patch background. Sky is purple gradient with shining stars. Grass is long. Green, white, yellow, and orange textured pumpkins have vines. There is a cockatiel named Lemon and a stressed oriental bay owl named Dumpling. Dumpling begins, "I woke up ten minutes late today!" Panel 2: He continues, "So I have to skip my 6:30pm breakfast, which means I'll be hungry during my 7:30pm workout, then too tired for my 9pm singing, and by then too burnt out to eat my midnight lunch..." Panel 3: Dumpling finishes, "My entire routine is disrupted and it truly feels like the end of the world!" Panel 4: Lemon replies, "Your feelings are valid. Let's take this one step at a time. We'll start by getting you breakfast. It'll feel different eating later, but you'll no longer be hungry, then you'll have energy to exercise and sing. Then we'll try again tomorrow." Dumpling is feeling a little better.

Me tricking my own Neurodivergent brain when not motivated to do the drawing: "Just create the file today." "Okay, maybe then just make the rectangle shape." "Maybe add the required text and be done for now." "A little background texture will make this pop." And I keep going and can't stop til it's finished. 🙈 Made completion certificates for the Slipper the Penguin activity book. 🐧
