As I stir a pot of mulled wine, I feel mixed emotions. We can't pretend things are normal or that our chosen family isn't about to be devistatingly affected by this next year, but we will fight it together. And if part of that is a taste of nostalgia without the attached familial judgment, so be it.

When he was brought home before we lived together, I helped keep him calm with an Irish lullaby. He still comes up to cuddle when I sing it. #cats
