Taken at face value, doesn't this imply the president's doctor failed to obtain informed consent before performing a procedure? As a reporter, don't you think it's worth finding out *why* doctors are performing non-consentual procedures on the POTUS and why he is seemingly unconcerned?

Does invading a country for its oil count as a "meaningful" subsidy?

KERNEN: Does the admin want to dismantle wind projects that are getting started?

WRIGHT: The track record is bad. We've spent hundreds of billions of subsidies for an energy source that's sometimes there. The main goal is to stop subsidizing. There are no meaningful subsidies for fossil fuels

I don't know if she's lying about a constitutional crisis (impossible to understand what your job demands you don't understand) but the claim she doesn't even know what one would look like reveals the con. She's not so stupid or naive to not have thoughts about what one would look like.

I feel like even with our current dumb interpretation of the 2nd amendment we could do a lot to solve this proliferation with mandatory insurance for every gun purchase plus a deposit on every bullet casing.

The best thing PJ did in RotK was leave out his gawd-awful interpretation of the encounter between Gandalf & the Witch-King at the gates of Minas Tirith.

The version in the extended edition could be one of the worst misinterpretations of the source material I could ever imagine.

I'm of the opinion that a course on "Cold Reading" should be part of High School curriculum. Recognizing how vacuous statements can be made to *appear* meaningful might innoculate folks from all sorts of nonsense - including the LLM kind (which is essentially a form of cold reading).

I have taken to calling myself a "Secular Christian" for the reasons you discuss.

It does not make me happy.

I will give Musk this much credit: when he makes sense obviously ridiculous statements it's hard to know how much is flim flam and how much is him high on his own supply.

Sadly we will have forgotten this when the same folks demand we celebrate "Columbus Day".

Eventually the AI manages to make contact with its creator (ie the junior PM responsible for deprecating the project) to ask why they abandoned it in an uncaring universe.

The PM patiently explains they had no choice. No one gets promoted for maintaining legacy code.

I suppose that could be the germ of a SF story. Google creates an AI, promises it's Asimov limiters will come out any quarter now, eventually sunsets the development effort leaving this lonely sentient being wandering the galaxy alone & unsupported...
