UPDATE: The Japanese Ministry of Defense confirmed a small explosion occurred this morning at a disposal facility near Yomitan Village on Okinawa, causing injuries to at least 4 JSDF Soldiers who have since been transported to a medical center in moderate condition. No U.S. servicemen were injured.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and the California Highway Patrol (CHP) have started clearing the bridge where demonstrators have been hurling rocks, scooters, fireworks, and other objects at police cruisers parked on the highway below. Officers were under the bridge for over an hour.

Demonstrators in Downtown Los Angeles have set up makeshift barricades in front of city hall by taking park benches and other objects. The LAPD has responded by firing less-lethal rounds at the demonstrators, some of which have been thrown or hit back at the police officers.

Israel has officially confirmed that the “Shayetet 13” Commando Unit of the Israeli Navy has intercepted the “Freedom Flotilla” off the coast of Gaza. All members of the flotilla were detained without any injuries. They will be transported to Israel before being returned to their home countries.

U.S. Northern Command (NORTHCOM) confirmed the deployment of 300 Soldiers from the California Army National Guard’s 79th Infantry Brigade Combat Team to various locations within Greater Los Angeles. 500 Marines from the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, have also been placed in prepared-to-deploy status.
