UPDATE: The Japanese Ministry of Defense confirmed a small explosion occurred this morning at a disposal facility near Yomitan Village on Okinawa, causing injuries to at least 4 JSDF Soldiers who have since been transported to a medical center in moderate condition. No U.S. servicemen were injured.

As for where the California National Guard is, right now they are only tasked by President Trump and Defense Secretary Hegseth with protecting federal buildings and personnel in Los Angeles. Any deployment to combat civil unrest comes from Governor Newsom or by Trump invoking the Insurrection Act.

A protester threw an object toward police officers. In response, an LAPD officer discharged less-lethal rounds into the crowd. One of the rounds missed its intended target and struck a woman who was sitting on the ground, hitting her in the head.
