Why aren't we refusing to allow committees to meet when the Senate is doing business on the floor? The Senate routinely waives Rule 26 rule via unanimous consent. Why are we not denying it?

How do you get rid of this mindset? Does it go away / fade if these kinds of people are financially stable enough?

Or a change in incentives? I don't think it would be a surprise to say that the traditional liberal arts education has been devalued in our society. What direct financial benefit is reading whole books these days?

This is in no way, shape or form to excuse any of the Deplorables - but we need to figure out how to end the hopelessness that is endemic to so much of American working life, and fast. AI and automation are not going to improve the life or job prospects of the working person in the near term.

Trump 2.0 is an existential crisis - but it's our fault - for too many people the current system simply doesn't work, and we couldn't (and still haven't) articulated a future that's any brighter for them than their current reality. "Fuck it - burn it down" doesn't sound so unreasonable, does it?

Well, if you were to defang the financial argument, you'd forced the other arguments to be made out loud. But OK! I have no dog in this fight beyond wanting to see more housing get built and thinking about levers that aren't currently being pulled that might be. Appreciate the work you're doing!
