Maybe they are trying to mislead not the public, but Stephen Miller, to reduce the pressure.

Bergen should be POTY. Anyone who is paying attention would rather have her on their team than, say, Kennedy Martin.

Will this hurt the hitters, in terms of postseason awards? Those seem more likely to go to the stars of one-woman teams where one hitter gets all the kills.

He doesn't do much thinking, including retrospectively.

Why is Skyler in street clothes?

Umm. It's a joke. "Because plants are sessile" is a tiring phrase to read (like nobody knows that). Saying they don't have flight as an option is an alternative phrasing that I thought was funny, but your mileage may vary.

It's a joke. Animals have fight or flight. Plants only have fight or fight.

Like no one knows plants are sessile. Why not use the sentence "Because plants only have a fight or fight response..."

Alexandra Petri leaving was the last straw for me and I cancelled my subscription.

What I loathed... the AVCA couldn't find someone to run the scoreboard who knew how a hitting percentage is calculated.
August 23, 2025 at 11:52 AM
Whoever was running the scoreboard did not know how to calculate hitting %.
August 23, 2025 at 3:38 AM
Yes. It's getting very tiring.
August 22, 2025 at 4:22 PM
Instead of stating the obvious fact that plants are sessile, try saying that they only have a "fight or fight" response.

Thank you to David Macherel, Jose Gualberto and Hakim Mireau for organizing the 2024 ICPMB meeting and the special issue of Phys. Plant. And to Olivier Keech, Allan Rassumsson and Olivier Van Aken for organizing the 2022 ICPMB meeting where I first met Joanna and the seeds of this work germinated.

This work would not have happened without the intelligence, skill, persistence and enthusiasm of @chusteckisci.bsky.social. The time she spent in my lab is a highlight of my 31 years at Nebraska @unlincoln.bsky.social. Plant cellular and molecular biology is fun!
