None of these people are aiming to drift on, immortal, in the physical universe as it gradually expands to the point that subatomic particles themselves are so diffuse that matter as we know it no longer exists. Which is what the post I replied to was suggesting.

Completely bland take. Nobody is suggesting they want to live longer than the habitable lifespan of the universe. Doubtful many even want to live for millions much less billions of years. But it would be nice not to begin a gradual decline after 4 decades and likely be done by 10.
