The 3 a.m. insomniac club will now come to order. First agenda item: my ex son in law died of a drug OD yesterday. As sick and tired as I am of this heartbreaking disease, I’m not tired enough to sleep. May I have a motion to ban all mothers from ever having to mourn children killed by addiction?

Remember when we thought cultures that practiced child sacrifice to appease their angry gods were brutal and ignorant? Yeah, they still are.
This child was murdered by idol worshippers.
Health officials with the City of Lubbock and the Department of State Health Services confirmed the first death related to the ongoing West Texas measles outbreak.

The patient was an unvaccinated school-aged child who traveled to Lubbock for care.

Voted for Trump, now have buyer’s remorse? The Trump philosophy seems to be his version of FAFO. Don’t buy anything on the 28th unless you absolutely have to.

Dogs are better than we deserve. This rambunctious girl instinctively knows to take it easy around My 91-year-old Dad and 92 year-old in-laws. (All dogs are therapy dogs, but most are volunteers.)

Leave it to beavers. ❤️
For years, officials in the Czech Republic had pushed a dam project to protect a river south of Prague, and the critically endangered species living in it. But the project stalled.

In the meantime, the beavers of Prague simply built dams themselves, saving the government some 1.2 million euros.
Czech Dam Project Was Stalled by Bureaucracy. Beavers Built Their Own.
The dam project, drafted in 2018 and based on a former military training site south of Prague, had been delayed by land negotiations. Local beavers built several dams, saving the government more than ...

Urban nerds are mourning an important voice for more livable cities.
"the high cost of free parking" is a book that legit rewired my brain. RIP to a great scholar
I'm deeply saddened to share that Donald Shoup passed away last night. He was the ideal academic—curious, methodical, and concerned with turning ideas into real-world change. TAing his parking course these past few years has one of the greatest honors of my life. Rest in peace, Shoup Dogg.

When I was growing up, I never had measles because I was vaccinated. But kids just a little older than me had them. And I remember how scary it was for a pregnant mom to be exposed to German measles (rubella) because it could cause severe birth defects.
We don’t have to go back.

Love to see this from the Queen of H’town!
Beyoncé won the Grammy for best country album, becoming the first Black artist to achieve the feat. “I think sometimes ‘genre’ is a code word to keep us in our place as artists,” she said, “and I just want to encourage people to do what they’re passionate about.” nyti.ms/3PZvgOW

DON'T TAKE ANYTHING PERSONALLY

Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won't be the victim of needless suffering.
