Of all the hundreds of successful 🪶 Osprey hunts I've witnessed, conflicts between individuals are rare. Not sure this was a conflict, or an opportunist noticing that the first bird had a tenuous grasp on its prey, either way it was impressive aerobatics from both

I've been enthralled with the 🪶 Scissor Tailed Flycatcher for years, but I only ever seemed to find them on power lines or flitting away in the distance. Last weekend, I was able to spend some real quality time with this fella, and he was GORGEOUS

I caught up with migrating Sandhill Cranes in the northern Texas Hill Country, unfortunately atmospheric effects were intense to say the least, but these are still cool photos with the wind turbines in the background

I've been trying to make it out to Big Bend National Park for a few years, finally made it happen a few weeks ago. It's hard to overstate just how remote and wild this corner of the country is.

These 🪶 White Throated Swifts weren't especially close and certainly started around like they were allergic to the camera, but I couldn't have asked for a better location to hang out with them on the bank of the Rio Grande in Big Bend National Park

If you want to get some wildlife closeups, the park outside of a children's museum is pretty hard to beat, these were the most desensitized waterfowl I've ever observed. It gave me a great opportunity to catch this incredibly beautiful detail of a 🪶 Double Crested Cormorant eye

About 8 years ago I was flying into or out of Chattanooga near sunset and noticed this network of ridges across the valley floor, as if someone had dragged a rake along the Tennessee river leaving zen garden-esque lines in its wake. My curiosity about these features led me on a fascinating journey of geological learning. These features, as old as the Appalachian chain itself, are subduction zones, pushed down and compressed by the same forces that thrust the Appalachian mountains out of the earth. Over the millions of years since, erosion from water and glacial scour wore away the softer top layers, leaving behind these densified ridges that survive today. I've been on 3 flights to attempt to capture what I saw out the window of my flight that evening, to no avail, but finally, the fourth attempt paid off with weather, aerosols and timing working in my favor.
