I tallied the number of court cases or legal challenges Alberta’s government has recently stepped in to block or pre-empt. Was surprised how long the exercise took - they’re at like a one-per-week clip:

Danielle Smith: "I hope people today feel a lot more confident that Canada works than they did a couple of days ago."
UCP convention crowd: LOUD BOOS
Danielle Smith tried to sell her federal-Alberta energy deal to the UCP convention crowd: tepid applause.
She told them that this proved Canada can work well for Alberta’s interests: loud boos.

This ain’t a base that wants Smith to work with a Liberal PM on a better industrial carbon tax.

Oldie but a goodie
In 2006 a high school English teacher asked students to write to a famous author & ask for advice.

KURT VONNEGUT - born 103yrs ago today - was the only one to respond.

With 868 measles cases so far this year, Alberta has now exceeded its previous high mark set in 1986.

2025 now has the most cases since 1979.

Danielle Smith has just smoothed the road toward an Alberta separation referendum. Even the UCP party president is saying so.

ANALYSIS | Danielle Smith's reform is nudging Alberta separation vote from 'if' toward 'when' | CBC News
Activists would need signatures from a reduced fraction of Albertans to force a referendum, thanks to a new UCP bill. But to actually win separation, they must climb a much higher wall (and most oppos...
