I tell stories. About the past and the present, the known and the not-so-well known, about atoms and the universe.
Justice for the emdash!
Apparently folks think that writing that contains an em dash is a dead giveaway that it's from ChatGPT, which I guess is a sign that most people have never read anything in their lives.

Looking at LinkedIn finfluencers calculating how much money I will need to retire peacefully, I am 100% convinced that I will work even on my way to the crematorium.

This is indisputably true. The RW rhetoric is so loud that it drowns out all counter-opinion.
There's no such thing as a Left wing echo chamber. An echo chamber is, by definition, a place where all you hear is those who agree with you. No one on the Left can escape the non-stop RW screeching that has come to define our age. It's everywhere. On the other hand, it IS possible for many on the

Some exchanges here remind me of old Twitter...but me? I am struggling to build community on Bsky. It's just not happening for me.

Job ad: "Looking for HR Manager for a regional role with minimum 15 years of experience."

Actual application form: "What was your level of English proficiency in High School? Please explain why you rate yourself at that level."

Why do they need to know how my English was in school?

Get a dog. You’ll never feel lonely for the rest of your life. If it’s a golden retriever, it’s very likely they’ll even give you company in the loo.

Should I revive my blog? Does anyone really read longer-than-280-char content any more?

I spent 16+ years in a single organisation without too many challenges. It's not even been 16 months in this one and I am ready to throw in the towel. Who you work with makes all the difference. Your manager is critical for your success.

I am frustrated to the point of wanting to quit. But I have bills to pay. Promises to keep. And miles to go before I finally say goodbye.

Fair enough! 😂😂
"In his defense he had your charms right on and he said all the right things" 😂

How many golden retrievers does it take to make your bed? Exactly zero. But mine will try his best to contribute by putting his head between the sheets and refusing to budge.

Common sense has left Indian social media. On one side, people are calling for war and on the other, someone is saying India attacked Pakistan with no evidence. FFS read! Reading isn't illegal.

Why aren't dishwashers popular in India? Twitter discussions are a study in privileged takes. Gentle reminder that most homes in urban India don't have enough space for a dishwasher.

What is the procedure to retire and chill in the mountains?

TIL that there anti-vaxxer pet owners too. What's a random bystander to do if they get bitten by your unvaccinated dog? You'll pay for the ARV and compensate for the suffering?

Right up until March 23, 2020, I used to go to work every single day. I never thought remote working was an option and didn't want to work remote. But now, I would really appreciate a job where I can stay home and work on some days of the week. The flexibility is priceless.

My epitaph will read, “Herein lies the one who was killed by love.”

That will be because I’ll be smothered by my golden retriever trying to lick my face and cuddle with me.

I got off twitter for good, but now wondering if I should go back just for a bit. I might be looking for a decent remote/hybrid working opportunity again. Just might...depends on a lot of things. If someone is looking for an HR person (or a PR person), give me a shout?

I did not need this rude reminder of my age. Totally did not.
I gave a graduate student a PowerPoint slide I made in 2002 and I expected them to be impressed by my ‘filing system’. They thought it was cute and then informed me they were born only a few months before the slide.

I did not know how to respond to that.

It's been a week and North Indian meltdown on Mrs. continues. Why did Richa not express her opinion? Why did she not discuss with her husband? All women don't suffer. It's only cooking and just for two people...apparently most people around us are not only blind, but also misogynistic.

Where did the weekend go? Why is Monday again? I have some existential questions.

Watched Vidaamuyarchi last night. Reviews and all later, but why is Arjun spelt with a C on the name board on Ajith’s office desk?

Fours years ago, in February, I lost mom. And then I moved in to a different house. One that felt like mine. And yet, I remember being nervous about food in the fridge. About an aunt here or a cousin there seeing eggs stocked. About them commenting on it.
