To count, you have to have money or be connected. And you have to be a man. And white. By the time the dream convo was over, he’d made a little shooing motion, like, “You can go.” I was set dressing.

The kicker: he thought the whole thing was kind of funny. Like a “We are in your base” joke. And what’s more - he didn’t care one bit about legality or even emotional reactions because in his mind, people like me aren’t people: we Don’t Count.

I called him out on what he’s been doing with DOGE and he wasn’t defensive or incendiary. If the subject matter wasn’t so ridiculous, I’d say he was pleasant to talk to. He was calm, relaxed.
