Could it be yet another example of WM double standards?
Lisa Nandy. Steve Reed. Rachel Reeves. Top Labour ministers are lying daily – so why is Keir Starmer doing nothing but shrug his shoulders? Hamish Morrison asks ✍️

All of this should be viewed as good news!
The by-election result from Caerffili/Caerphilly tells us some important things

1. Reform can be beaten with a progressive alternative.
2. Labour is lost if it doesn't abandon Starmer's move to the right and return to the left.
3. The Tories are dead and beyond repair.

The views of the Scottish people will help shape the future of the BBC in Scotland, they say. But the vast majority of us want the BBC to be independent of the government of the day. So, do I believe what they say?
Absolutely not.
NEW: The majority of Scottish respondents think it is important for the BBC to be independent from the government of the day, according to the corporation’s biggest survey 👀

This is a good insight into our current economic direction of travel. Are we on the right road? This article suggests not.

The purpose of these appears to be to show that he was in Scotland. He is not, typically, visible during such visits. However, it is doubtful if anyone believes that his visit is due to his deep seated love for Scotland...
As we’ve highlighted before, you’ve a better chance of seeing Halley’s Comet than you do of catching a glimpse of a Labour minister on one of their strictly stage-managed trips to Scotland, writes Hamish Morrison ✍️

Food for thought... It may be too slow for many but the march towards independence is inexorable.

Food for thought... We should avoid the copying of unionist neoliberalism when arguing for Scottish independence. Whether we agree with that viewpoint or not, this article does warn of the smokescreen tactics that could be employed by unionists. Anything to spread confusion...
Avoid this trap when you are taking on Unionists
The Unionist propaganda machine is still ticking over, conducting a low-level campaign to undermine confidence in Scottish independence ...

The Israeli action in Gaza - which is not genocide according to the Labour WM Government - looks incredibly like genocide to just about everyone else... 🤷🏼‍♂️

A timely reminder of the importance of next year's Holyrood election. It is astonishing - and depressing - that so many Scottish people fail to recognise the danger to our democracy posed by Reform.

How England's media annoys Scots. Spoiler: no surprises - we already know!
"It is not an exaggeration to say that the future of the Union will be greatly threatened by a Farage government. If the English press wants to accurately report events around the Union’s demise or survival it would do well to read some history and do some research"

It is a little sad that we still have a need for groups like Engender to push for equality. The evidence that things have been going backwards is depressing. Scotland should be in the vanguard of this movement. Independence would let us tackle the problem with no interference from Westminster.

How our esteemed MSM reports on (largely positive) Scottish school exam results compared with the reporting on (quite positive) school results elsewhere in the UK.
Summary: Scottish Government criticised on the front page of newspapers; no front page reporting elsewhere. WM propaganda in full swing.

Apparently the Debate Night BBC programme, shown on the eve of the Hamilton by-election did not breach impartiality guidelines despite having two Labour representatives on the panel. The assertion is made by the BBC itself. That reassures me so much... Nothing to do with the by-election they say. 🤣

No sense of irony from the Guardian over its article on Nicola Sturgeon. Plenty of British nationalism on display from WM, constantly, but we have the wrong kind of nationalism in Scotland, apparently. Just like we had the wrong kind of refinery...
There are bad hot takes, and there are Martin Kettle bad hot takes. In his latest piece inhe opines that the big problem with Nicola Sturgeon was her nationalism. Kettle's British nationalism is of course not nationalist at all, because it's British.

Nicola Sturgeon’s immense political talent is undeniable. The nationalism was the problem | Martin Kettle
Many of her admirers gloss over her desire to break up the UK as Scotland’s first minister. But in her memoir, it plays a starring role, says Guardian columnist Martin Kettle

Democracy in action? WM also blocked Stephen Flynn's WASPI bill. Yet they continue to support Israeli 'actions' in Gaza. Must be hard for decent people to have any pride in the UK.
