Sure, I wrote 60k words in November for our second annual #RoWritMo. Sure, I made more progress than I expected on a book I'd barely outlined before the month began. But, most importantly, I claimed every beautiful badge @abuchon.bsky.social designed for us this year, and THAT'S the real victory!!

People wanting you to feel like all hope is lost are not helpful. Vulnerable communities are at risk. But hope is not lost. And we do a disservice to those we need to protect by simply throwing up our hands and saying everything will just be bad.

I don't have any insight that people with a lot more knowledge than I have, but I'll say this: resistance to fascism also includes not letting them define our lives. On top of the political work we do, we must value and continue on with our work, art, friendships, and love. Don't let them take that.
