Introducing the Demiderians, another one of our player species for Jack of Trades. These starry folks are prone to wanderlust and may live for several hundred years. They have fair magic resistance and tend to be rarer folk, who lack their own nation. More in alts.

The story goes that the Siderians, beings of stars and adventurous navigation, created the Sidhe and gave them short lifespans to avoid becoming attached to them, but some individual Siderians were still taken in by the beauty of their creations when visiting Sidhe colonies. Ultimately, the short lifespan served the Siderians well in that they could give a Sidhe partner stability and attention for a handful of decades without too much difficulty, and the children of such a union resulted in the Demiderians. Demiderians are therefore rare, and maintain the persuasion towards wanderlust and long lives of their celestial parents. Rarely does a Demiderian stay in a Sidhe colony much beyond full maturation, finding the rigorous lifestyle of the Sidhe an ill fit when they have so much longer to live. Demiderians may satisfy their wanderlust through occupations such as merchants, enjoying oddities that pass through their shops, librarians, enjoying tales and tomes about far-off places and people, or curators, again managing curiosities. Demiderians have developed an oral tradition they teach and share one with another when they encounter each other, and may choose to seek out a Demiderian they've never met to ensure they know the tradition and are up to date on stories. In this way, they share their adventures and remember adventures of Demiderians past. Demiderians may choose to settle down again amongst any of the other peoples (aside from the Fairies who only permit non-fairies inside their hives on very rare exception) including their birth colony or lone hermitages.

Here's another PC specie for Jack of Trades: the Sidhe! (pronounced "she") Sidhe are a more magically inclined people with a fairly high tolerance for ambient magic and half the lifespans of humans. More in the alt!
A trio of Sidhe; a lanky pink dandy fellow with a pointed ear like an elf, a rounder purple lady with minty hair and a butterfly wing like ear, examining the shoddy workmanship of a sword, and a bright green individual with orange hair and mismatch ears, one bat one feathery with xer arms looped through the other two. (Clarification: sidhe gender identity spectrum is not especially different from humans. This is a he, a her, and a xer. Any given sidhe colony might have different ideals for gender and gender expression.) While the sidhe come in all kinds of colors and bodily shapes, their skeletal anatomy, most particularly their skulls, remain the same; the most notable, visually unifying feature among the sidhe is their high cheekbones. Because of their short lifespans, sidhe tend to live in close-knit colonies where they have a strong support structure to allow each other in living their fullest. The stringency of colony schedules can come off as dystopian to free-spirited species such as humans or anthros, but to the sidhe, it's just the structure they need to live fast. Sidhe often have a YOLO attitude, not towards foolish behavior but in a willingness to do scary things (like confess your feelings) or to try new things. Each sapient species has an affiliation with an Elder Entity; the sidhe have ties to the Siderians. The story goes that when the four Elder Entities developed the universe, it was because the Siderians, beings of stars and adventurous navigation, had first discovered a realm outside of the four Elder realms in the first place. The Siderians were initially only interested in exploring this new realm, but on finding that their fellow elder beings had created sapient races, the Siderians realized they wanted to try to make one, too, and thus they created the sidhe, using inspiration from the many places they had visited in their variety of colors. The Siderians gave them shorter lifespans to avoid becoming too attached to their creation.

One of the player species in Jack of Trades is good old classic Humans. These humans are sporting tiny mystic assistants known as a Bauble. You can check the alt text for more information!
A male and female human drawn in chibi, each with a small sprite-like friend. They're both wearing vibrantly dyed hooded tunics. Humans are known for being versatile and diverse; of all the sapients, they are the least unified due to their strong independent spirits. Likewise their relationship with the other sapients varies group by group and individual to individual, although dragons and humans have the most difficult history (and part of that history is the development of the dragoon class.) Each sapient species has an affiliation with an Elder Entity; the humans have ties to the Benevolent. The story goes that when the four Elder Entities developed the universe, the Benevolent, beings of song, were so fascinated by the lives of the mortals that they reconsidered their own lives. Mortals had to toil and struggle; the Benevolent had always lived tranquil lives filled with the power of their song. Deciding that a test to prove they could did in fact deserve their ancient powers was in order, the Benevolent cloaked themselves in a physical form and became the Humans. If true, this would have happened so long ago that any humans now would be descendants of a Benevolent turned human.
