Big budget doesn't guarantee a great movie, as wowing with effects and grandeur can often mean that the story sucks and the characters lack depth, so don't think low budget means a film will be rubbish. #scriptsky

Simpler can be more effective.

Less is usually more.

Substance over style.

Do you know what's pretty cool that i've noticed in some shows? Audio playing out the rest of a scene out with plain black and white credits. They did that in "Midnight Mass" with one of the characters screaming on the boat and in "Cross" where two characters fought each other.

That's an awfy lot of words to say "write lean", but yeah, defo don't disagree with this one.

With a finite number of pages in a screenplay, mastering word efficiency helps you pack in more plot, increase the speed of the read, and trim off the fat, leaving only the pivotal bits. #scriptsky

My first TV pilot I've written! Exodus: When your average Joe's timeline gets blown up, he has to travel the multiverse, working with the god of time, to figure out what happened!

I really need to get back into writing, i've been so blase lately

My new screenplay: Mare Cognitum.

It's an lgbt romance series where the main character can watch the multiverse in the sea of dreams as he begins his first true romance. (This is my first time writing a romance series, so it's been a bit out there for me lmao).

To finish all my drafts, upload them onto ISA/look for an agent and start trying to look for work in a TV room.(This might spill into 2026).
I mean, other than surviving with your sanity, what are some of your writing goals for 2025?

Funny enough, I haven't actually thought about it for many of my scripts but I had a few Ideas

Ron funches, Dame Judi Dench or Olivia Coleman, Matt Bomer, Brie Larson or Gwendoline Christie, Jay Lycurgo, Zane Philips, Stephanie Hsu, Maggie Robertson, Michelle Ruff, Perry Chen just to name a few
Who are some of your bucket list actors?

You know, the ones you've been dyinig to work on or envision as characters in your scripts?

I've actually tackled two new genres which I normally haven't done which is action and romance but if I were to pick another one I would try to do children's tv because sadly that's one of the biggest exports in my country and I can't be bothered to do historical fiction
We haven't done a #FiveAfterFive for awhile, #Scriptsky, so why the heck not?

Do you have a genre you're always wanted to try? What is it, what's stopping you, what intrigues you about it?

Ruin a movie by making it about Gary.

There's something about Gary.

I'm gonna be honest, writing an lgbt rom com that isn't boring/trite or trauma filled is so god damn hard

This is so important to know especially if you want to do film making in canada
If you're trying to gain representation, go all out in your screenplay, but if you're trying to option one, keeping the budget in mind is something you need to consider.

Pitching to independent producers and studios is easier, but they'll have much smaller budgets to work with. #scriptsky
