International students make vital social & economic contributions to the UK.

The govt has created a hostile environment for international staff and students and are now seeing the results.

If this continues, the negative impact will be devastating.

The voting period is until 3 March. The Jewish members' caucus does not endorse candidates. I as an individual have endorsed, not least because I like to know whom people I like and trust recommend. So I voted for Dyfrig Jones and a bunch of other smart, critical people

Obviously voting for @dyfrigjones.bsky.social for UCU VP. There is no way I would vote for the other candidate.

Most of the people whom we reached out to did not reply (and for some we could not find the email addresses for, even if we asked their institutions). But those who did reply did so very constructively, or most of them, in my opinion.

Some of you know that there is an Inofficial Jewish Members caucus in the UCU, and I am on the (soft and unofficial) committee. Like last year, we have emailed the candidates for the NEC and here come the responses.

Very excited to see this new edited collection on Eyes Wide Shut (co-edited by Nathan Abrams and Georgina Orgill) in the flesh, in which I have an industry-focused chapter on EWS as a late century “quality” blockbuster.

It's been 20 years since a new bio of the director of THE SHINING, 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY, and EYES WIDE SHUT (and, if he had had his way, NAPOLEON). "Kubrick: An Odyssey" by Robert P. Kolker & Nathan Abrams is out today from Pegasus Books. #kubrick
