Today we’re highlighting one of our Field Funds grantees: 1518 😍 🎶

1518 is a pop concert turned theatrical ritual that examines themes of resistance, the liberated body, and communal healing through the lens of the Dancing Plague of 1518.

NEA cuts are a reminder that arts funding is precarious. That’s why A Blade of Grass has been building something different: artist-led funding that puts resources directly into the hands of artists.

What does artist-led funding look like? Field Funds supports artists in many ways: open calls for artists around the U.S. and partner cycles in partnership with artist-founded orgs like Racing Magpie and Sidewalk Detroit. We also respond with and through artists already rooted in place when a crisis hits. In 2024, we partnered with Pansy Collective to distribute emergency relief after Hurricane Helene. This spring, we’re raising $10K to keep Field Funds going strong. Link in bio to give.
