This comes from engagement work with teenage girls in a park in York.
And you see all those things with two dots by them. Those make up 90%+ of what we currently provide for young people in public space.
Whereas the things that girls want - they just aren't there.
Let's do better.

I loved running this festive creative ‘youth’ session at the weekend 🌲💚
A lovely Christmas Wreath session with teenage girls at the weekend. Part of our ‘Make Space’ project focused on creating a welcoming park for girls and reducing the drop off of park use as they enter their teenage years.

Improving the police response to VAWG is said to be central to the (soon-to-be-published) police reforms. It’s critical to recognise that domestic abuse occurs in *particular* spaces & places, and responses should reflect that. Take rural areas, for example: youtu.be/mEIp8PaWbLE?...

Great to hear Sarah Hill’s talk about the amazing and necessary work IDAS do at an event last night. They are the largest specialist charity in Yorkshire supporting people affected by domestic abuse and sexual violence. Really important work, but need is growing and resources thin.

When planning for a community Winter Solstice event for families in Rowntree Park, I decided to write my own ‘folk-esque’ story to share. The wonderful Ellie Lewis has come on board to illustrate as we decided we should create a book - and why not!
