I've never been a great lover of Elmore Leonard - though I do agree with most of what he says there

Thanks for the reminder: I've been meaning to read this for some time. It should make an interesting companion to that other "lost" book from the 30s, Der Reisende (The Passenger in English) by Boschwitz, which I read last year. It also aligns with something I'm writing myself at the moment.
