Pronounced 'bye-rack'. Fail whale expat and former editor, now work in comms. #Coffee enthusiast. Passionately curious; obviously wrong views my own.
If you wanted to hear how this era in dance music sounded like, I've compiled an #Anjuna25 playlist of must-listens. #TranceSky

I'm sure someone already has done this, but:

Wearing symbols of totalitarian government is bad and disqualifying for public office.

Yet another fun fact: I have *literally* sat next to Dame Mullally's seat in St. Paul's Cathedral. (They actually let a cafeteria Catholic into the quire stalls.)

Dare I say it, but the brief depiction of Howard Simons in ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN (1976) by Martin Balsam was perfect.

Makes over-the-top jokes, plays coy and asks all the mundane questions (that turn out to be right), and then steers the story while Bradlee/Woodward/Bernstein eat up the screen.

You've inherited a movie theatre, what's your double feature?

Two sci-fi films (Can I call the latter sci-fi, @bitchuation.bsky.social?) that present exaggerated pratfalls of human life, but have become prescient over time and improbably end up hopeful.

This article is fascinating, though, as a cultural text.

Take this paragraph. This is basic North American history, found in a simple search in anything from Encyclopedia Britannica to Wikipedia, and @svzwood.bsky.social needs to explain it to an educated readership.

Though this analysis by @policyoptions.irpp.org is not 100% correct. (Fun with numbers!)

According to the final lists, 54 federal public servants were cleared to run in elections across Canada, 24 filed to become a nominee for their respective parties for April 28, but just under 20 were selected.

Challenge accepted.

My great-grandfather was a self-taught painter, but the results were anything but amateur. He left us dozens. Here's one framed in my bedroom (another can be seen on my profile banner).

He was clearly inspired by the Group of Seven and the Ontario countryside.

And here's the near-identical Humber Bay Arch Bridge.

(Curiously enough, one of its co-designers was Terry Montgomery of Montgomery Sisam, while the new Walterdale Bridge in Edmonton was designed by a Jim Montgomery.)
