I mean massively disagree. Dan Dare was already subverted to death in the Pat mills and then even more so in the Morrison era. Ennis’s love of Dan Dare is of the Frank Hampton comics which for the 50’s was remarkably well written. Like it’s still critical of Britian to some extent

I don’t think Punisher can anti-facist. The point is that he can’t actually solve any problems long term, even when murdering the worst human. If there is a story about him murdering corrupt cops it would end with it incinting futher police brutality because it’s blunt solution to a hard problem

I mean yes but Steve Grant and Carl Potts and him reworked to not be a villan and be a protagonist. The original Conway tales are not the Punisher most people love. He's a tradegy but he doesn't need to a be villan and works fine as an anti-hero.

I feel like he fulfill both. He’s a a study on dehumanization and what someone who is a seriel killer who never changes, despite having a code of honor looks like. He’s a monster who can’t solve problems in any real way and his efforts are futile long term. But he just keeps going.

You see that’s the point. If you read the slaver it’s a point made extremely explicit where he's going after the worst of humanity human traffickers and killing them but it doesn't solve anything and the real heroes are the social workers focusing on helping the victims.

Punisher has also been in some of the most right leaning comics in mainstream comics. It’s no coincidence that Punisher has at least 3 alt right writers like Dixon and Baron. Punisher comic are extremely politcal as they determine who deserves to die. Modern day Punisher has more a left leaning feel

More like 70%. I think a lot of the 80’s and 90’s comic that have those conservatie undertone, and it’s no coincidence that there are a lot of Punisher authors have turned into comics gater ( Not the goat Carl Potts and Steve Grant though)
