Since teams need to wait 75 days before executing a double retention trade, the only way that could happen this year is if a trade gets executed prior to tonight’s roster freeze. Post Christmas there will be fewer than 75 days until the deadline.
Here’s a fun proposal.
Marchment 50% retained for Nyquist 50% retained. Both teams could then flip them at the deadline

A couple things: No clue what the 2nd, 3rd ad 4th lines would be here. Pay no attention to how I ordered them.
Also, Scott Arniel told me Haydn Fleury is fully cleared to play. And that they may look to use him on the right side.
A Stanley-Fleury 3rd pair at some point soon is likely, I believe.

After reflextion I realize that barring injury, there’s probably nothing going to happen on this until Toews makes his reutn to the United Cemeter on Jan 19. That’s 15 games away and another $1.1M in bonus money (2 away from the 50GP bonus if he plays them all)
So is it time to just punt on Toews? Feels like it would be addition by subtraction….
Or do they just let him collect his bonus money, embrace the tank and let him fade into the sunset?

Technically the Jets have an open roster spot right now. Fleury is still listed on IR at puckpedia. So technically they could recall a player from the Moose should they choose

Viktor Klingsell is indeed in the lineup for Skellefteå’s SHL game vs Alfons Freij’s Timrå squad (Freij is at the World Juniors) Klingsell is listed as the 13th forward so anticipating 4-5 minutes TOI barring a forward injury or expulsion.
