In addition, in 2020, Russia began subsidizing mortgage loans for families and low income households. Now it must compensate banks for losses on those mortgages. Overall more than RUB 1.1 trillion will go toward them, including 500 billion out of the 1.5 trillion planned 2024 budget increase.
