I thought maybe that fifth year would have some vesting option, or some other Dipoto creativity like a tricky opt out midway through. Maybe five solid years was what it took to get him to sign so early on.

Good example. Also an example of a guy who lost out on a full year of his prime due to COVID. Worth potential consideration in bubble cases.

Worth considering: 100.1 playoff innings (3.41 ERA, 3.69 FIP), NLCS and WS MVPs for Hamels.

Any concern that there would be so much game in a Too $hort rap?

The Piss Christ guy? Was emailing Epstein well after he served time and registered as a level 3 sex offender? Telling him we wanted to defend a man’s “right” to grab women by the pussy so badly he’d vote for him for president despite his politics? Wtf

Since then he’s only made the single greatest error of judgment any front office executive has made in the modern era of sports by trading for and giving $230 fully guaranteed to Deshaun Watson.

The guy who traded for and gave $230 guaranteed to Deshaun Watson?!?

Example: I love that a Costco hot dog still costs $1.50. But we also used to get a choice of beef or polish, sauerkraut, fresh onion, and deli mustard options, and it was served wrapped in foil instead of shoved in a wet paper bag.

Much larger conversation to be had here about the stagnation of low/middle class wages leading to suppressed prices of everyday goods, necessitating watering down those goods and making them worse for everybody. If the top 1% shared their wealth more evenly, we could all afford nicer things.
