I don't know about you, but I had just the best day.
Teddy with the model beach we made for his science project with aquarium rocks, modelling clay, sand, and Elmer's Slime. Me, holding my son, who is under the blanket, while I rock him to sleep. He's almost 10, and someday soon he will stop wanting me to hold him and I will hate that day when it comes. But it's not today.

There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.
