Mine at home in California is very quiet as well. I don’t know why the ones manufactured and sold in China make such distinct noise. Also not sure why their lithium batteries are so prone to catch fire, or if it really is just Chinese lithium batteries that are exposed to such a heightened risk?

Yes, each making a sound similar to a zip-line, some brands higher pitched than others, in unison with hundreds all around of varying types jam-packing campus streets making quite the harmonious chorus.
