Obviously there are other projects within it. Surveillance is baked in because capital always requires surveillance. This is what powers the pursuit for legibility. You can't make legible what isn't visible in the first place.

Generative AI is nothing new in this respect, it's just maybe better at consuming. One of its purposes is to disenchant the concept of art by advancing the thesis that either humans can't produce it at all, or they need help in doing so. In either case, the purveyors of gAI are there to sell it.

What I think I mean by this is that in keeping with Silvia Federici's logic in Caliban and the Witch, capital null magic seeks to disenchant or demystify whatever it consumes so it can be resold in legible ways, or destroyed if it can't be made legible.

Sometimes, especially for born digital materials:

You can't open it if the file is corrupt or missing ...
... or if you don't have compatible software

Old software may not run on your computer now ...
... or there may be no copies of it left in existence
