Ok getting some intel that the zoning may be specific to the “single house” and not a “single-housing historic district” which is less concerning.

Ok rumor has it there wasn’t an official vote taken, but we will see…

Seems a little disingenuous to also not mention it was in order to shift investment focus to OpenAI…

Ah yes, we all remember all of the times republicans have promised democrats a vote on something and definitely followed through on that promise. Definitely a thing that happens all the time, especially in the past 20 years.

Summary: their petition talks around their major complaint of being fearful their driving commute time will be a little longer. This is an understandable fear! However this project is offering a better commute and living area for the region as a whole so more people may be persuaded to not drive.

Additionally: Swampscott is only 3 sq miles and won’t rezone immediately around the commuter rail station so more people can live there and take the commuter rail to work. We should make it easier for people in town to get to public transit!

Claim: [swampscott] Rail parking full by 7 a.m.

Analysis: fact check: true! People like taking the commuter rail. It goes to north station. People would also love a dedicated bus lane to wonderland to the blue line bc that services a different part of Boston!

Claim: 1,700+ new housing units coming to the Lynnway

Analysis: yes! Let’s give them a safe area to walk in and move around in! This requires a multi-modal corridor.
November 9, 2025 at 8:21 PM
Claim: No updated traffic data to justify changes

Analysis: they are asking for updated traffic data because a tiny section of protected bike lane was put in and technically isn’t open yet and they haven’t seen anyone using it so it’s a waste of money in their minds.
November 9, 2025 at 8:21 PM
Claim: 41,000-44,000 cars squeezed into fewer lanes

Analysis: given the rate people are moving to the area, if we don’t give people other methods of transportation besides cars these numbers could be higher…so we should create a multimodal corridor that moves more people, yeah?
November 9, 2025 at 8:21 PM
Claim: Slower emergency response

Analysis: this does not seem to be based on anything but assumes emergency vehicles would also not have access to the dedicated bus lane in an emergency which by all accounts appears to be false.

“North Shore Residents: Lane Reductions Put Us at Risk”

At risk of what? The complaints suggest driving slower is the main concern, which…ok.
