Welcome to my personal journal. It’s mostly about Swampscott. I’m sorry if you came here for something else.
Swampscott town meeting warrant just dropped…and this will be a pretty short and boring meeting.

The PARC grant is for resurfacing Abbott Park.

Article 10 will be interesting since they are officially closing soon, but hey we might have a plan shortly.

Looks like there is actual movement on the Hawthorne Redevelopment.

I never had strong opinions on this except for making sure is some sort of permanent acknowledgement of Indigenous people here, but this seems like a good compromise of all the wants.

Claim: 41,000-44,000 cars squeezed into fewer lanes

Analysis: given the rate people are moving to the area, if we don’t give people other methods of transportation besides cars these numbers could be higher…so we should create a multimodal corridor that moves more people, yeah?

Apparently a little coordinated Sunday Facebook posting is happening today from the team that is against the Lynn multimodal improvement project.

Honestly, not overly concerned this will have an impact because they seem to only exist on Facebook, but let’s dive into the claims here.

I was going to post about them clearly trying to meet the letter of the law without meeting the spirit, but he just said it out loud.

Continuing on the generative AI for raw slop that people can react to before hiring actual professionals. Some reimagined Swampscott locations to make the more pedestrian friendly and add housing/commercial.

It appears the writer of the OP didn’t read the article too carefully and just ran with “reimagining”.

Apparently is is going to attempt the longest campaign for elected office in Swampscott’s history.

I believe this puts him against Doug and David should they run again which is an interesting choice given that Charlie usually has similar opinions on issues as them.

Here’s a map of the future site of this development. The thing every house around it has in common is a driveway that fits multiple cars.

Though The General was my first song I learned how to play in college (along with Incubus’s Drive of course), this was my first Dispatch concert.

@apnews.com you know, you don’t actually have to put a talking point in a headline that is intentionally and obviously in bad faith, correct?

Interesting early move from Moulton for his senate campaign. Indicates that he knows he needs to win over progs in order to beat Markey.

Guessing he is attempting the “go to the left for the primary, go to the center for the general” strategy, but he’s already outflanked in the primary.

Again, stating that the noise from generators would not be part of the permanent solution seems like a basic communications miss for the report. And again, people misinterpreting the word ”success” in the report to mean a conclusion that the UV is a perfect solution.
October 15, 2025 at 9:43 AM
Instinct tells me Lynn/Swampscott will continually have to remind people of what the report says/doesn’t say bc I already see people interpreting the key points of the report in…creative ways.

They declined to recommend whether or not to proceed with the permanent solution.

Lynn and Swampscott just released the UV Pilot Study results. Certainly no surprises for those following along, but the key point is that it helped, mostly during dry days, to reduce bacteria levels and get the beach open faster after surges.

The overlap between Marbleheaders that don’t believe in climate change, think their town can get by with zero state tax dollars just fine, and MAGA trump supporters is quite broad.

At least some are willing to just state outright that they don’t care about people being killed. 🫠

“Only people swinging baseball bats have ever gone down this hallway and that’s how it has always been! Clearly no one else would even want to use this hallway!!”

There have been a number of pedestrian deaths along this stretch over the past few years, and this project is in part, trying to address that, but…

The number of people from
Swampscott, Nahant, and Marblehead, who don’t actually commute regularly and are up in arms about the Lynnway Multimodal Corridor Project is alarmingly funny. This project has been in the works since 2020.
