Exactly. It's fucking textbook. These cults all come from different cultures and backgrounds and such but they all have the same textbook. Prey on the weak, find the loners, and find the pushovers. You weren't a pushover.

Yeah, that reminded me of when someone I knew got involved with what was essentially a cult. Almost same behaviour too. They just take over your house and see if you have the willpower to push them away. It's like a loneliness pressure test. J.F. Sebastian in Blade Runner with the replicants.

If you don't believe me look into how many of them don't actually have money to do anything. They leverage the banks based on their perceived value. Banks they don't pay back. Banks who have admitted they don't know what to do with them not paying them back. It's open theft.

100%. I think the people who rage about the male loneliness epidemic are less looking for answers and more looking for control. They want power. They don't want to solve their problems they want to erase having problems.
They also obfuscate the larger issue of societal loneliness with their cause.

We now have people running to AI to find companionship and answers in life because what difference is it to them to the people they talk to online? And then they run into an affirmation loop and eventually develop psychosis

My viewpoint is we are in a loneliness epidemic period, and focusing it as a male thing ignores that *everyone* is dealing with the consequences of the internet being used to communicate everything has left so many people alone in their homes lacking human interactions.

I do admit I have a few friends who have bad politics and one of them I let slide just because I know she has definite cognitive mental issues and will probably be in a home before she's 50. So like, someone like that? I just go "uh huh" until she changes subject.

Was proud of my friend when he shared an Instagram of someone and one of his friends sent a derogatory DM back and he was immediately like, "Nah, don't accept that shit. Fuck you we're done."
It gets harder and harder to drop friendships as we get older but you gotta maintain the line of decency.
