Is this a safe space to say I have no time for Fabrizio Romano for a whole host of reasons, one being he comes across as a PR agent for various unsavoury players/clubs more than anything else these days?

Interesting point on control. I think some of it at least is on ball stats being much less affected by positioning / movement of teammates and opponents than off ball stats, therefore defending / goalkeeping stats need more context really
Forwards are boring & one-dimensional; defenders and goalkeepers are exciting, mysterious creatures

a big part of it is how much control the player has over the action. Passing, shooting - these are on-ball actions that the player controls. Saves, tackles - more affected by circumstance

Why are stats for goalkeepers (and to a lesser extent defenders) considered to be less reliable (inferior?) to that of midfielders/forwards?

I have such a love hate relationship with radars. On one hand they're good at conveying large amounts of info, but on the other hand I hate how changing the order of the stats can change the visual so much! My brain struggles with area ≠ better necessarily, although Salah is insane
Taking a short look at how Salah has aged recently.
Salah's peak year is probably the insane 17-18 season where he scored 32 league goals, with 10 assists across 34 90s.
