File it under sentimental #Midlife nonsense, but I found old skiing pictures from Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park. I've been skiing for 35 years, which is ten years more than I've been fly fishing properly.
Perhaps a wee freeride and forest skiing trip to Pallas would be in order next March.

File it under sentimental #Midlife nonsense, but I found old skiing pictures from Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park. I've been skiing for 35 years, which is ten years more than I've been fly fishing properly.

It’s because most people live in the growing cities in the south that have horrible rainy and dark winters due to the climate warming much faster than the global average.
We have that too in the Northeast but some winters are still epic. Hmm booking a hut now

November retro vibes at the (free) town gym. I have a feeling that many hikers don't visit, and many gym bros don't hike.
Combining the two is the best. Muscle endurance prevents injuries, and it's easier to lift when you have the aerobic fitness from hiking and skiing in the forest.

This Ghost is a serious machine with long travel, Magura brakes, dropper post and full suspension. Been sending it hard on the trails, nearing 40 kilometers today.

In an absolutely wild turn of events, I decided to ditch the hike to the hut in darkness because I have an off-grid cabin anyway tomorrow.

#Sufficiency doesn't always require sacrifice. I'm happy to spend the money saved on very low energy consumption in high-quality fly fishing and outdoor gear.

10°C in the forecast towards mid-November. The Northern Pike fishing season continues unabated. I've skied deep snow in the forest on many Novembers in North Karelia.

Someone had put the Grim Reaper on a remote forest road crossing in my town. Don't know if it was for #Halloween because North Karelia is always metal.
Anyway, here's an old house in the woods. I once heard a low grumbling noise in the bushes not far from it.

Very low water in the large lakes at the moment. It was almost like fishing on the flats in the West Indies, not that I’ve ever been there. Might be a little warmer and sunnier than Finland in October-November.
