This week was the Dutch Week of Children’s Books. At my daughter’s school there was market where kids could trade their books and we found this gem. The illustrations are delightful!

Lions escape in Amsterdam Stripclub: Yesterday the Amsterdam newspaper Het Parool shared this story from 1967. Amsterdam in the 60's was a pretty wild place!

So cool to see @patrickhwillems.bsky.social play my Name That Movie film quiz! And of course he's absolutely smashing it, casually naming some of the most challenging films in the deck: youtu.be/a7EEjVPXif0?...

For some reason the actor playing Major Toht wasn't available when they did this shot, so they ended up just replacing him with his signature hat and coat! And if you don't know it, you don't see it--

Yesterday's page of my daily Raiders of the Lost Ark film studies. I'm almost at the end of the Truck chase! (just one more shot of the crowd cheering) This page features one of my all-time favorite bits of movie trivia--

During the Disney Story Presentation at this year's Annecy Animation Festival, attendees got a cool storyboard sketchpad that has this very useful storyboard checklist on the back:

Felt that my home studio wasn’t nerdy enough yet, so I added this red guy. He’s awesome.

Another 'Name that movie!' quiz question. Fun fact: this movie has been the most common incorrect answer. So I finally had to draw it.

Over on insta I've been having a little filmquiz with my followers for a few years now. Can they guess the movie I drew? I want to bring a little collection of these with me to Annecy in June, and am reworking some of the entries I'm less satisfied with. so can you name these movies...?

So cool to be forced to use different shapes than I would start with. And so fun to tell her ‘look what you drew!’

Drawing with my 4yo daughter. We’re playing the old game where she does a quick scribble and I have to make it into something. So much fun!

In fact they don’t care about him crossing the fence: they need his rope to dislodge one of their vehicles that got stuck. When we cut back to Sallah you can see htem using his rope in the BG. That’s why Sallah needs to improvise a new rope for Indy to climb out! (2/)

Breaking down a film into a reverse storyboard, you see details you never noticed before. For example in Raiders, when Indy is down in the map room, soldiers come and shout at Sallah. I always thought they were shouting because he was trespassing. But that’s actually not what is happening-- (1/2)
