Here's a BTS look at the test rig + animation I worked on to figure out how to even achieve such a complicated action. This first attempt was so successful that it was directly imported into the final shot render, albeit with additional animation on the human head.

Kobold facts; one of the benefits of working underground and in mines all the time is that the t flies by for most kobolds. Getting up to go to work on a Monday only to go to bed two Thursdays later is a trip. As a result, kobolds are terrible at calendars.
