Former tourism naturalist seeking a more fulfilling and less infuriating career with Alaska's humpbacks
I wish there was a support group for women in the maritime industry who face discrimination from the men and even women they work alongside. I have experienced so much sexism in recent years. I don't know how other women get through this

Politely rejected on my dream job before interviews even happened cuz fuck this administration at keeping federal operations.

Anywho, I'll be crying in bed tonight because this means I have to stay at my winter job that doesn't appreciate the blood, sweat, and tears I put in for the team.

"Call of the Wild" by Ronald Crowe from his 1981 book Fireweeds, my favorite Alaska poem. Also the most acerbic, accurate poem about Anchorage ever, like the description of a "pioneer" taking a "grubstake job at JC Penney's." #alaskahistory #anchoragehistory #alaska

I've been anxiously awaiting a callback for a biological technician position in Glacier Bay for about a month. It's been my dream job for the longest time and this is the farthest I've come in the application process. I don't know what I'll do this whale season if I don't get it. 🫠

this is an empty picture of the deep ocean, if you see a whale it means you are a perfect sweetie who deserves a forehead kiss (if you see two whales it also means you are gay)

Reading "Haunted Inside Passage," about ghosts and legends of Southeast AK, in the bathroom cuz the roommates are out and I'm free to do as I please. The door gently opened on its own while I'm reading about the Kóoshda káa and let me tell you my heart JUMPED.

I just applied for my dream job in Glacier Bay for the second year in a row and I'm very unconfident. It's a tech job to help biologists monitor the humpbacks but it's lumped into back country NPS work, which is barely any part of the job.

I've been working on revamping my photo storage after getting bigger hard drives and a long awaited restored drive back. It's the most miserable part about being a photographer. I just want to take photos and not deal with the editing and file saving.

I'm in the process of setting up a shrimp tank that looks like a whale fall. I can't wait to get the water just right, introduce the critters, and start having them feed amongst the bones
