To be honest, when I found out the patriarchy wasn't about horses I lost interest.

Metalhead. Cidermaker. Socialist. He/Him.
It rang for approximately 5 minutes. I don't think they're open. If they even exist

if you can't maintain the most basic of an online presence, the restaurant industry may not be for you.

"We are a farm-to-table restaurant featuring exciting creations from esteemed chef..." OK what are your hours? When do you open? What time is your last seating? It's nowhere on your website and Google Maps says "these hours may be incorrect" next to an obviously wrong m-f 9am-5pm

and that's where we are today folks!
July 10, 2025 at 11:38 PM
there is a two week lead time on those parts.
July 10, 2025 at 11:38 PM
on day 13 I get a call that our account is set up. I eagerly call the account exec and tell him to order those parts for me.
July 10, 2025 at 11:38 PM
I say, ok, I'll have him give you a call. they say fine. I call the farmer and ask to call this company and give a reference. we both gripe to each other about how stupid these systems are.
July 10, 2025 at 11:38 PM
the accountant says they can't do COD but I could mail a check in advance. I ask if I can pay with a credit card. the accountant says no. what about ACH? only with credit terms. I ask which credit reference couldn't be verified. they tell me it was the farmer I work with.
July 10, 2025 at 11:38 PM
on day 12 I email him again and ask if the account has been set up. he cc's me on an email to accounting asking for an update. their accountant calls me and says they couldn't verify one of my credit references. I tell the accountant that I don't need credit at this time and I can pay COD.
July 10, 2025 at 11:38 PM
I fill out the form and send it to my exec friend at the distributor. he says ok, I'll send to accounting and they'll process it.
July 10, 2025 at 11:38 PM
on day 10, the account executive is back in the office and I catch him on the phone. no problem, they can get me the parts. however their company has been sold since I bought the machine so we don't technically have an account anymore. I'll need to fill out a "new customer" form.
July 10, 2025 at 11:38 PM
on day 7 of this ordeal I call the distributor again and ask if anyone else can help me while the account executive is on vacation. I get transferred to the warehouse, where the phone rings for approximately 15 minutes straight without being answered.
July 10, 2025 at 11:38 PM
desperately, I ask around similar facilities to ask if someone else has one of these machines and may have the part on the shelf. no one does, they all have very slight variations from different manufacturers.
July 10, 2025 at 11:38 PM
I email the other contact at the distributor. that person is also no longer with the company. I email my friend at the manufacturer and tell them that that person has moved on.
July 10, 2025 at 11:38 PM
the manufacturer gets back to me almost immediately. their tech tells me the part numbers I need to order but says that I have to order through the distributor. he has a different contact there, though. I take their email.
July 10, 2025 at 11:38 PM
a week goes by and neither message is returned. I reach out again and call again. I find out via their voicemail greeting this person is now on vacation this week.

annoyed, I send the manufacturer an email to see if they'll sell me the parts directly or direct me to another distributor.
July 10, 2025 at 11:38 PM
I email the person who was the sales and service agent when I bought it. I get a bounceback. he's no longer with the company. I email the company's general inbox and call their offices and leave a message for the person who services that manufacturer now.
July 10, 2025 at 11:38 PM
I need a part for my pallet wrapping machine. It's manufactured by one company but sold via a distributor who has an exclusive contract to sell and service them in my area.
