But on a serious note, yes “activist” has been used to delegitimize people who are focused on equity, care and questioning systems.
I’ve dealt with the activist vs. journalist label my entire career.

Gen Z's first exposure into politics are bad faith interviews, gotcha debates, and clickbait headlines. We learn politics in an unhealthy media environment that rewards style over substance. The CPC knows that and has leveraged that effectively. "Simple" solutions to complex problems is the meta.

Pierre Poilievre's latest campaign commercial (you know, with the old white men golfing) was non-union, and the actors were paid thousands of dollars less than they deserved. But hey, he stands up for workers and unions and wants us to have powerful paycheques! Just don't ask to see the receipts!
