the surcharge is because you haven’t paid into it previously, like everyone who has lived in the UK before you.

in general this is just amortizing a $100k fee over 5 years and across 4 people to make it seem less ridiculous. a UK visa for a single person is like 10k for 5 years

I think this has been more alarming for the UMich’s credibility —Democrats say inflation will be 10% and Republicans say 1% over the next year.

Most other surveys show short term tariff impact but anchored long run.

at least in recent years -- 2024 was 384 (from -21 in Mar.) and 2023 was 368 (from -29 in Mar.)
